Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

We have heard of stem cells and cell therapy. Now it is time to learn about Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). PRP is an alternative medical treatment for hair transplantation.
Platelet Rich Plasma therapy uses the patient’s own blood to treat hair loss. In this method of hair transplantation, the patient’s blood is processed via a centrifuge so that only the enriched cells or platelets remain. These platelets are then injected into the recipient areas with a micro needle. The blood plasma contains active growth factors and hence can promote growth factors. The main purpose of using PRP in hair restoration is to stimulate inactive or newly implanted hair follicles into an active growth phase. This is a non-surgical procedure and does not require any healing time. Apart from speeding up the restoration time, Platelet Rich Plasma also heals bruising if any in the recipient area, increases blood flow and makes the hair look much healthier.
